Moe and Mirboo North kicked off round seven action at the weekend with day two of the headline clash set to resume this weekend.
The Lions went in to bat and were in strife after the loss of Noah Kane for a duck and found themselves struggling at 2/23 when Riley Baldi fell for 13.
Captain Andrew Philip again stepped in to bolster the Moe top order and played a pivotal role in their revival with a knock of 71 to take his season tally to 387.
The Lions were poised as Max Wakefield reached 102 to see the hosts declare at 6/224.
Rob Phoenix was the most economical of the Mirboo North bowlers with 3/49.
Mirboo North is faced with a tough task when it opens day two of play this weekend and will likely look to captain Shane Peters to lead the charge with the bat.
Trafalgar v Morwell
Morwell heads in to day two of round seven proceedings against Trafalgar this weekend in a precarious position at 3/39.
The Tigers batted for 15 overs in response and lost the key wickets of Robert Webber, Mark Cukier and Dylan Day to put an early dent in its chances.
The Ships were sent in to bat and suffered a similar fate in the opening stages and plunged to a dangerous 3/10 before regrouping.
After Nick Gurney and Brodie Burgess were each taken for two, the Ships put on a respectable target of 160 with Christian Burgess’ 46 the top knock of the innings.
James Heslop was also handy with 36 while import Marco Higgins chipped in with 27 and David Bremner 20.
Craig Giddens and Sam Mooney are still at the crease for the Tigers with Brendan Brincat and Blake Mills still to pad up.
Latrobe v Jeeralang Boolarra
Defending premier Latrobe is in a spot of bother against Jeeralang-Boolarra after it batted first and managed a measly 98 in the first innings at Peter Siddle Oval.
Bradley Aitken’s 21 was the best any Shark could manage as the rest fell in quick succession to leave the side all out in the 47th over.
Stanley Urbanic and Mark Rawson did the most damage for Jeeralang-Boolarra with three wickets each and Matt McGrath took two.The Panthers finished day one at 3/86 at stumps.
