A 31-year-old Bairnsdale man was arrested last week after cash and drugs were located inside his vehicle. The man was intercepted by police in the early hours of Sunday, March 8 on Maryvale Road, Morwell where he was found to be driving without a license. A search of the vehicle was conducted and police located a significant cash and drugs and his car was impounded. The man was remanded in custody and will face the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Attempted burglary
Overnight on Tuesday, March 3 unknown offenders gained entry to a shed at a property in Churchill. The suspects also forced entry to the victim’s house on Coolabah Drive, and stole a bucket full of tools. Car damaged
Overnight on Friday, March 6 a car parked at an address in Churchill was damaged by vandals. The suspects attended a property on Walker Parade and poured a substance over various areas of the vehicle parked at the address. The paintwork of the vehicle was damaged as a result. Man charged
A Churchill man will front court after he was found in possession of drugs, a large amount of cash and a stolen phone earlier this month. The 31-year-old was at the BP service station on Vestan Drive, Morwell when he was approached by police and attempted to walk away. Police searched the man and located drugs, cash, and a mobile phone that had been reported stolen. He was charged with multiple offences and will face the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Vehicle stolen
Police are seeking information after a car was stolen from a property in Morwell last week. Overnight on Tuesday, March 10 the white two-door Nissan Navara, with sign writing on both sides and the rear tailgate, was taken from an address on Wilson Street. TAFE Gippsland break-in
Between 5pm on Friday, March 6 and 9am on Tuesday, March 10 unknown offenders forced entry through a rear door at the TAFE Gippsland horticultural centre in Morwell. Once inside the suspects caused extensive damage and stole two laptops. Anyone with information is asked to phone the Morwell Police Station on 5131 5000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Two charged in Morwell
A 32-year-old man and 26-year-old woman from Rye were charged after being found on the ground of the old Energy Brix site in Morwell last week. Police believe the couple had attempted to steal cabling from the disused site. Police issued a reminder that anyone found trespassing may face significant fines. The couple will appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Man charged with drug possession
A 41-year-old Morwell man was arrested in Morwell last week after he was found in possession of methamphetamine. The man was driving a vehicle when he was intercepted by police on Beattie Crescent. After stopping the car the man jumped out and attempted to flee from police, but was apprehended after a shoot foot pursuit. He will appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Attempted vehicle thefts
Overnight on Sunday, March 8 unknown suspects attempted to steal a vehicle from an address in Moe. The offenders forced open the ignition barrel of the vehicle, which was parked outside a house on Langford Street. Also overnight on Sunday, March 8, broke the window of a vehicle parked on Balfour Street, Newborough. They pulled apart the steering column to try and start the car but were unsuccessful and punctured the tyres. Man threatened with knife
A 37-year-old woman was arrested and remanded in custody after allegedly threatening her former landlord with a knife. At about 10am on Monday, March 9 the woman attended an address on Lloyd Street, Moe where she used to reside. She was confronted by the victim who she allegedly abused and threatened with a knife. When police arrived at the scene the woman was still holding the knife. She will appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Man charged after alleged stabbing
A 36-year-old Moe man will appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court after he was arrested in relation to an alleged stabbing last week. The incident occurred on John Street, Moe on the night of Thursday, March 5. It is alleged the man was involved in a dispute at the address when the stabbing occurred. The victim was treated at Latrobe Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Pair charged with drug trafficking
A man and woman were arrested for drug trafficking in Moe last week. At about 12.45am on Friday, March 13 the pair was intercepted at the McDonald’s drive through. Police searched the vehicle and located a significant quantity of cannabis and a search of the woman’s handbag revealed a large quantity of cash and other drugs. The woman, a 26-year-old from Morwell, was arrested for drug trafficking, possessing and using a drug of dependence and was also charged in relation to two road incidents. The man, a 21-year-old from Geelong West, was also arrested. Both were remanded to appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court.
Men charged
Two Newborough men, aged 30 and 24, have been charged after police executed a search warrant at their address earlier this month. Various drugs of dependence were located during the search. The men were charged and bailed to appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Tools, drugs located
A 27-year-old woman from Moe was charged after police uncovered a large amount of construction tools and a small quantiy of drugs at her home. Police executed a search warrant at the woman’s Hunter Street address where she was charged with handling stolen goods and possessing a drug of dependence. She will appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Man charged after nightclub assault
A 24-year-old Newborough man has been charged with assault-related offences after an incident outside the Aviary Bar in Traralgon last week. The victim received significant injuries during the incident, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, March 9. The accused will appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date. A second man was interviewed in relation to the incident and will be summonsed to appear before the court at a later date.
Sports equipment pinched
Overnight on Thursday, March 5, offenders stole various items of sporting equipment from the tray of a ute in Traralgon. The vehicle was parked outside an address on Service street when the incident occurred. Tools stolen
Between Wednesday, March 4 and Sunday, March 9, multiple tools were stolen from a shed in Traralgon. Offenders gained entry to the shed on Old Melbourne Road drove off with a trailer, which they loaded with tools and car wheels.
