ROUND 10 of Traralgon and District Cricket Association Neilsons Builders Cup action saw the favoured sides emerge victorious from some tight tussles.
Gormandale v Toongabbie
IN the match of the round Tom Shippen won the toss and sent the Tigers in, a move he may have been regretting after the first hour as the Tigers reached 103.
Captain Adrian Burgiel continued his red hot form from the country championships, scoring 78 which included 10 fours and five sixes.
Grantley Switzer compiled a classy 53, Kent Hammond showed poise with 63, while Kade Joske 26 and Shaun Barbour 33* helped the Tigers to a massive 7/283.
Nathan Rosser with 3/25 was best of the bowlers. Toongabbie started its innings in great fashion putting on 60 runs before Daniel Carson departed for 31.
Nathan Rosser belted a quick 38, and Tom Shippen (29) and Scott Inglis (23) got the Rams within 30 runs of the target in a great game.
Traralgon West v Rovers
TRARALGON West had first crack with the willow and reached 32 before John Bell was dislodged for 19. Luke Phillips made 32 but the West looked wobbly at 6/93.
Tom McQualter made a brilliant 72* in his first game for several seasons to take the West to 9/171.
Fazz Hasan with 3/25 was best with the ball. Rovers needed someone to occupy the crease for the majority of the innings; Dean Gillard tried valiantly but when he went for 43, Rovers’ chances were sliding at 7/118. Simon O’Donnel (14) and Matt Whitechurch (20) rallied with a late order fight but Rovers was all out for 150 in 41 overs.
CATS v Imperials
CATS batted first and lost Jack Moore for 22 at 1/28.
A useful 82-run stand between Dan Nichols (46) and Brett Chapman (63) got CATS moving in the right direction. Michael Bloomfield (20*) and Davin Charletson (34*) batted well to take CATS to a formidable 6/221. Imps at 2/70 was well on the way but losing Danny Hegarty for 26 was costly. Boyd Hegarty with 42 and Scott Aitken (26) tried hard but Imps ran out of overs and finished on 8/176.
Ex Students v Glengarry
GLENGARRY got off to a good start with 32 batting first, before Frank Marks fell for 13.
Trouble struck with the score on 48 when Paul Henry (8) and Ben Marks (0) were both out leaving the home team 3/48.
Glengarry eventually reached a competitive 175.
Lee Stockdale snared a five wicket.
The Sharks lost Barney Webber early for one and Jordy Gilmour for six to be 2/52, but in career best form captain Lee Stockdale stole the show with an emphatic 118 to steer his side to a comfortable win in 37.
Centrals v Churchill
BATTING first Churchill reached 3/53 and was on track for a good score before a collapse saw them lose 7/47 to be all out for 100 in 34 overs.
Chris Williams with 41 and Joe Whykes (20) were the only two to make runs.
Corey Pollard took 3/35 and Mark Fenech grabbed 4/16 in an excellent bowling performance for Centrals.
Centrals’ start was ordinary, losing Rob Wilkie for a duck, but from then on it was a demolition job with Steve Hazelman 45* and Mark Rawson 49 blitzing the Cobras in 21 overs to record an easy win.
