THE penultimate round of matches before the finals will be nothing short of spectacular as four sides clamber for the remaining two spots on the Traralgon and district cricket ladder.
Glengarry, CATS, Centrals and Toongabbie are still in the hunt to secure third and fourth spots after Ex Students and Gormandale already booked finals action in March.
Glengarry (3rd, 41pts) v Toongabbie (6th, 31pts)
THE match of the round will see old rivals face off in a blockbuster contest.
A win for Glengarry will almost certainly grant them passage to the finals, while a loss would leave them with a must win game against Raiders in the last round.
Toongabbie must win this game or it is season over after a shock loss last week.
Glengarry has been hard to beat all year; it was Ben Julin who stole the show last week and with the Marks brothers and Paul Henry in good form Glen is riding a wave of confidence.
Toongabbie dropped a seemingly unlosable game last week and it could cost it a finals spot.
Tom Shippen has led from the front and will again be needed, while Daniel Lang, Nathan Rosser and Tim Dunn will all need to fire in a huge game for the Rams.
Churchill (8th, 22 pts) v Raiders (7th, 25 pts)
These cross town rivals clash with neither side able to make finals this year.
Churchill staged a great fightback to win last week in an upset and will be looking to finish the year on a high.
Raiders was the early season team to watch and while it has been decent since, consistency has been the problem and it too will miss finals action.
Rovers (11th, 9pts) v Centrals (5th, 35pts)
THIS game will be Centrals’ chance to bounce back from last week and go for maximum points as it fights to make the four.
Rovers needs to produce a massive form reversal in this clash.
Imperials (10th, 9pts) v Ex Students (1st, 55 pts)
THE Sharks travel up to Catterick Crescent knowing they will finish the home and away season top of the ladder.
Lee Stockdale will be keen for his batsmen to spend more time at the crease in the lead up to finals action.
Imps need to bat much better and will need a big innings from Danny Hegarty.
CATS (4th, 37pts) v Traralgon West (8th, 19pts)
CATS was handed a free hit last week when results went its way and remained in the four despite having the bye.
It must win this game to keep its chances alive as it faces the red hot Sharks in the last game.
Traralgon West will go into this clash with confidence after last week’s win.
Gormandale has the bye.
