Police are appealing for public information after a young Traralgon girl was taken to hospital with what is believed to be potentially life-altering injuries.

The 22-month-old was discovered unresponsive at a northern Traralgon property on Friday November 12 and was taken to a local hospital shortly after, at about 10.45pm.

Detectives at the Central Gippsland Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Unit are currently investigating the incident.

The toddler is now in a serious, yet stable, condition in a metropolitan hospital.

Police report that it is currently unclear if the injuries she sustained will have a permanent or long-lasting impact on the toddler’s life.

Major Crime Scene officers executed a warrant on the property in question earlier this week and seized several items.

Detectives are urging anyone with information about the circumstances in which the girls’ injuries were received to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
