WITH the state election set to be held in November this year, Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed that Labor has not yet pre-selected a candidate for the seat of Morwell.
During Mr Andrews’ visit to Morwell last Friday, he was questioned about the upcoming election and whether a pre-selection had occurred for Morwell.
“We haven’t had a process to pre-select a candidate yet, we will soon,” he said.
“I’m very confident that it will be an outstanding candidate, just like Harriet (Shing),
someone who can be a champion – if they’re supported by the local community.
“It’s up to the people of Morwell whether they want a voice in government or not – or if they want a Labor voice – I’d obviously encourage them to support a Labor candidate,” Mr Andrews said.
The Premier said the Labor Party wants to make more investments like the Morwell Trade
Skills Centre.
“We want to make sure that everyone’s kids, and grandkids have good, high-skilled jobs,” he said.
“We want to make sure that this is an area that is proud and strong and confident about the future… a region that knows the government is on their side and working really hard for them.’’
