An update on the National Broadband Network’s rollout to Traralgon households, originally set to commence in June, remains elusive, despite numerous enquires by The Express.
While some activity has been reported along Traralgon’s residential streets, remediation and upgrades to Telstra’s underground pit and duct network is required before the NBN rollout can begin in earnest.
Telstra announced last week contractors could recommence pre-rollout pit remediation nationally on 19 August, after addressing unsafe handling of asbestos in pits by contractors, however a spokesperson was unable to give a likely start date for Traralgon.
According to an NBN spokesperson any major changes to the rollout timetable would be recorded on the NBN rollout website, however as of Friday, the site still stated NBN’s Traralgon rollout was set to commence in June.
