DASHING through Moe, prancing through Old Gippstown, another Christmas celebration has been delivered to the Latrobe Valley.

On December 13, Old Gippstown hosted its annual holiday celebration, welcoming hundreds of families and friends to the open village.

While temperatures soared, people and dogs could be seen enjoying activities such as market stalls, food, music, Devonshire teas, a dog competition, photo opportunities, mini games and carols.

Cars lined roads outside the Old Gippstown gates, indicating strong support for the event. People also arrived by the free shuttle provided by Latrobe Valley Bus Lines,

which was wheelchair and stroller-accessible.

Strolling in early, Santa made an appearance around the start of the event, giving out high-fives, taking selfies and springing into sharing the Christmas spirit.

Dressed for the occasion, groups wore Christmas attire and dressed their dogs to try to win the best pup award. Pups could be seen as ‘Santa’ elves, or even Christmas ornaments.

Most attendees were from the local area. Others came from far and wide, including a group from the metropolitan area.

People could also be seen relaxing in the shade, chatting away as they embraced the Christmas festivities.

Spirit: Morwell’s Sharon Stone, Churchill’s Matthew Cowell, Rachael Whitlock, Kelani (9), Bella (10) and Alyssa (9) got all dressed up for Christmas celebrations.
Great times: Locals Hulk Alikham, Izzy (4) and Solomon (2) enjoyed the warm weather accompanying the Old Gippstown Christmas event.
Dual purpose: Melbourne’s Lily Chiang and Jay Huang joined in on the Christmas celebrations at Old Gippstown, while also taking in the historic education. Photographs: Katrina Brandon
Fun for all: Moe’s Jessie Priest and Trevor Priest brought along Santa Coco, who enjoyed meeting other Christmas-dressed pups.
