TWO sides remain undefeated after day two of the Traralgon and District Cricket Association Neilson Builders Cup fourth round.
Victories to Gormandale and Churchill helped the duo establish a mini break over the rest of the competition.
Tom Shippen bowled Toongabbie to a comfortable win over CATS with a great haul of 7/30 off 27 overs.
Glengarry v Churchill
THE match of the round saw Glengarry start its run chase of 273 poorly when Frank Marks departed for 8, followed soon after by Sam Marks, to leave the Magpies at 2/29.
Hayden Ross-Schultz played a lone hand with a rousing knock of 74, but when he was dismissed with the score at 7/201 Glengarry’s chances of an unlikely victory withered.
Ben Marks and Ryan Delaney batted well in the middle order with scores of 42 each, but a few more would have gone a long way as Churchill bowled their side out for 219.
John Keighran capped off a great captain’s game by taking four wickets while Ryan Ayers continued to impress with three wickets.
CATS v Toongabbie
CHASING 216 to win CATS got off to a solid start of 44 before Dan Nicholls was dismissed for 17.
That was the best partnership for the day as the other CATS bats failed to get going.
Captain Barney Webber was stoic with 50 but the home team was ultimately dismissed for 148.
Tom Shippen was the standout performer with a magnificent spell 7/30 in 28 overs.
Imperials v Raiders
IT was curtains for the home side after seven overs as Raiders wrapped up the final three wickets to record a comfortable outright win over a lacklustre Imperials which made just 55 in the second innings.
Alex Lawson and Leigh Jensen were fantastic with five wickets for 16 each.
But the star of the show was Brad Knowles, whose 6/18 last week included a hat trick.
Rovers v Gormandale
WITH the start of the game delayed Rovers was fighting hard to stave off an outright loss.
Dean Gillard (23), Nathan Dunstone (26) and Todd Mann (20) all got starts as Rovers built a lead of 70 runs.
Shaun Barbour was superb in his 23 overs and claimed 5/23 to bundle Rovers out for 126.
Plenty of overs were left in the day for Gormandale to cruise to an outright win.
A slight blip in the Tigers’ plan occurred when Anthony Wilkes’ homework paid off, dismissing danger man Adrian Burgiel for the second time in the match for eight.
Al Jenkin with 22* and Kent Hammond (39*) guided the Tigers home in style.
Traralgon West v Centrals
NO play was possible in this match this week or last due to weather.
