WITH two rounds left to play Gormandale and Ex Students are safe in first and second on the ladder, followed by four teams fighting for the remaining two spots. The current contenders on the ladder are Gormandale 60, Ex Students 44, Glengarry 42, Churchill 38, Centrals 33 and Raiders 32.
Gormandale v Glengarry
LAST year’s semi-finalists clash for the first time in the match of the round.
Currently in third spot, Glengarry has been impressive and boasts the most varied bowling attack in the league, however it runs up against a side that has had its measure in recent years.
Two quality spinners in Ryan Delaney and Ben Julin have been in great form, while Steve Wright, Cam Graham and Chris Johnson are also bowling well.
The batting seems to be clicking at the right time of the season and Frank Marks’ return to form is a huge boost, while Tim Spotswood is in good touch.
The Tigers enter the game on a high after a record breaking chase of 354 against Churchill and will look forward to a ‘mini final’ game this round.
Raiders v Rovers
RAIDERS must win to keep its hopes of finals alive.
A lacklustre batting performance last week needs to turn around and Brad Knowles, Mick Higgins and Tim Darby are the prime candidates for change.
Leigh Jensen, Liam Maynard and Kurt Holt must fire with the ball.
Rovers enter the clash in great form and with spirits high after a great team effort last week with key contributions from Simon Duff, Nilla Thillekarathna and Matt Whitechurch.
Todd Mann has been a welcome addition to the bowling attack along with Faaz Hasan, helping form a formidale Rovers outfit.
Toongabbie v Imperials
WITH no finals action possible for either team this clash is all about pride and building for next season.
Imperials started the year in a rebuilding phase and has been competitive with a few wins on the board.
Alex Butler has been a standout recruit, while Brad Sizeland continues to bowl his heart out.
Toongabbie has fallen well short of an expected top four spot, but Matt Golding has had a wonderful year and Steve Nichols seems to be hitting form.
Centrals v CATS
CENTRALS enters its final home and away game for the year with a glimmer of hope for finals action with a bye in the last round.
The Lions need to win and hope everything falls into place with other results.
After a confidence boosting win last week Centrals will go full tilt at CATS.
Corey Pollard, Jarrod Allan, Mark Rawson and Jamie Hall will all need to fire.
After a bad loss last week Barney Webber, Conor Sloyan and Corbin Sutherland will need to perform for CATS to get home.
Ex Students v Traralgon West
THE Sharks will look to this clash as a warm up for finals action.
Securing second spot on the ladder will be paramount as the reigning premier Gormandale looks ominous.
Lee Stockdale, Greg Munro, Rob Voss and Michael Warne are all key players in good form.
Traralgon West faces a huge challenge and will look to leading batsman Jon Bell for runs.
