Suspicious fires 

WELLINGTON Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a suspicious grassfire in Cowwarr on Friday morning.

Authorities are treating the fire, which began at the corner of Traralgon-Maffra Road and Cowwarr-Seaton Road shortly after 11am as suspicious.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating a grassfire in Boolarra on Thursday, which is also being treated as suspicious.

At 12.30pm on Thursday emergency service units responded to a grass fire on Churchill-Boolarra Road, Boolarra.

The fire was 100 metres north of the Morwell River Road.

“The prompt response by passers by and members of the Boolarra Country Fire Authority stemmed the spread of the fire and restricted it to a small area,” according to a Victoria Police spokesperson.
