A young elm tree along Traralgon’s Kay Street has been removed after it was badly damaged in stormy weather on Sunday evening.
Latrobe City mayor Sharon Gibson said the tree’s trunk had been split, requiring its immediate removal on Monday.
Cr Gibson said following an arborist assessment, the tree, located on the nature strip in front of Latrobe City Council’s civic centre, was deemed a safety risk.
It will be replaced with an advanced four-metre tree in winter.
