Chance to thank firies

The Latrobe Valley community will thank the volunteers who battled to save their lives, homes and facilities at a fundraiser in Morwell on Friday, 14 March.

Morwell Neighbourhood House and Twin City Archery Club will host the night at Toners Lane Archery Park, Morwell.

“For giving above and beyond the call of duty, we are acknowledging the outstanding service of our local brigades,” House coordinator Tracie Lund said.

“This is your chance to show your appreciation to our local fire fighters.”

The event will run from 4pm to 8pm and include a sausage sizzle, face painting and entertainment from Koko the Clown and local band In Spite of Ourselves, plus CFA Gippsland displays and Captain Koala, with more activities announced closer to the date.

Ms Lund said attendees would also be able to access some hands-on information about actions to take after a fire and also advice on plans for the future.

She said food and activities would cost $2 each and all proceeds would be donated to local CFA brigades.

“One of the key reasons for approaching Twin City archers is they had been directly affected by the fires so we thought that was a fitting location for the event,” Ms Lund said.

“We have had an overwhelming response to this event with many prominent local community members coming on board and donating their time or products for this event.”
