FORMER Moe footballer Brock Smith was delisted by the Brisbane Lions last week.
Smith did not make a senior appearance for the Lions in his two seasons at the club.
He was cut alongside senior listed player Tom Joyce and rookie Connor Ballenden.
The Brisbane Lions said they were interested in offering the trio VFL playing contracts if they failed
to find another home at AFL level.
Smith joined retirees Grant Birchall and Archie Smith as off-season departures.
Brisbane Lions general manager of football Danny Daly thanked the players for their service and wished them all the best for their future endeavours.
“It is the toughest part of the job telling young men who have contributed to the club that there won’t be a spot for them next year,” he said.
“All of these guys are talented players and popular teammates, and we are very sad to see them go.
“It is also unfortunate that with two years of disrupted seasons in the second-tier competitions, they didn’t get the same opportunities they would have enjoyed prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Smith captained Gippsland Power in 2019 and was taken at pick 33 in that year’s draft
Smith has played three senior games for Moe, including the 2017 second semi-final.
