RECENTLY, Aileen Boothman (nee Burns) was presented with her Victoria Police Record of Conduct and Service, by Acting Inspector David Fyfe, at Respect Mitchell House in Morwell.

Aileen was the third female police officer to be stationed at the Morwell Police Station in 1959, after serving for two years in Melbourne.

Aileen fondly recalled how she worked to support many women and families in the local area, and remembers a lady she often supported saying, “she was very much misunderstood”. Aileen always showed great compassion and care for others.

Act. Insp. Fyfe shared with Aileen that their roles were very similar, and the work to support children and families continues.

Comments by the supervising inspector stated she was cooperative, industrious and diligent, and her conduct was exemplary. She was also commended for her initiative and devotion to duty.

Aileen’s family and friends were present at the time, with a morning tea held to celebrate afterwards.
