THE trial of accused murderer Richard Stephen Devries of Newborough has begun before the Melbourne Supreme Court sitting in the Latrobe Valley.
On Wednesday, a 13-person jury comprising eight men and five women were empanelled and had their duties outlined to them by the judge.
Justice Lex Lasry told the jury they would witness evidence in this “serious case” given by about 20 witnesses over the next three weeks.
Devries, aged 38 years, was charged with the stabbing murders of Evan Rudd and Roy Poole following an argument over a car parking space at a High Street, Moe residential complex on 19 February last year.
He pleaded not guilty before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court in September last year, and is facing two counts of murder.
