THE new consortium of companies nominated by the Federal Government to provide apprentices support services in the region plans to increase its coverage in the Gippsland and Melbourne region from 1 July.
New service provider AusNAC has engaged the “majority of staff” from the outgoing apprenticeships centre, previously run by Apprenticeships Group Australia, and will administer the contract locally from offices across Gippsland, including Traralgon, according to AusNAC manager for Central Highlands, Melbourne and Gippsland region Leanne Parker.
“We welcome the opportunity to continue this service to local businesses and stakeholders for the 2012/14 period,” Ms Parker said.
“AusNAC’s focus is the provision of reliable and timely free information and administration of Australian apprenticeships and incentives to employers and Australian apprentices.”
Ms Parker said historically, AusNAC focused on providing services identifying mentoring and monitoring as key components to retention of apprentices and trainees in the workplace.
AusNAC is one of the providers which have secured two-year contracts to provide Australian Apprentices Support Services in the Gippsland region.
Apprenticeships Group Australia’s apprenticeships centre manager Rod Styles said the continued employment of staff was “good news”.
