A review into Latrobe City Council’s handling of the Moe Railway Precinct Revitalisation Project saga has remained out of the public eye, following a council meeting last night.
Councillor Darrell White moved a motion to attempt to bring the matter out of the closed section of the meeting for discussion in front of the full public gallery.
Moe-based councillors Peter Gibbons and Sharon Gibson declared an interest in the matter and left the room for the debate.
Councillor Dale Harriman was earlier voted acting chair of the meeting in acting mayor Gibson’s absence.
Crs Graeme Middlemiss and Kellie O’Callaghan supported the motion to bring the matter into the ‘open to the public’ section of the meeting, while crs Harriman, Christine Sindt and Michael Rossiter opposed, tying the vote three-all.
As chair, Cr Harriman cast the deciding vote against the motion.
The review relates to “governance processes” associated with the railway revitalisation and the overarching planning document for Moe’s central business district.
