STREAMING movies, downloading music and internet browsing will be much quicker in Moe and Newborough after Telstra switched on 4G mobile coverage yesterday.
Downloads speeds of between two to 50 megabites per second will now be available, but customer speeds may vary depending on a range of factors such as distance from the base station, local conditions and the user’s device.
Committee for Gippsland chief executive Mary Aldred said the rollout of 4G was a great win for Moe and Newborough. “There’s a lot of work that the Committee for Gippsland is currently doing with local community organisations like the Committee for Moe to try and revitalise Moe and surrounds by securing key infrastructure priorities,” Ms Aldred said.
“This announcement by Telstra to rollout their 4G service will go a long way towards supporting local students, businesses, families and community organisations to access the technology they need to help reach their potential.”
