POLICE continue to investigate two separate assaults carried out by youths, which occurred early Sunday morning in the Traralgon central business district.
In the first incident a 17 year-old man was walking along Post Office Place when he was approached by a man who made demands for his mobile phone just before 1am, according to police.
After handing over his phone, the victim was allegedly assaulted by four youths and received minor injuries.
In a separate incident, police said a 35 year-old man was assaulted by up to 10 youths at the Grey Street and Princes Highway intersection about 1.20am.
The man sustained facial injuries and a fractured leg.
Police were quick to respond after bystanders phoned triple zero and apprehended a 16 year-old boy from Sale as he fled through Victory Park; he has now been charged.
Detectives from Latrobe Crime Investigation Unit wish to speak to two 16 year-old boys who were seen speaking to the victim prior to the assault.
Police described the first teenager as having fair hair and was wearing a red t-shirt, dark pants and runners.
The second teen had scruffy hair with a nose piercing and was wearing a cap, grey hooded top, light coloured pants and had a bag with a black shoulder strap.
Detective Peter Ferguson said the weekend gone was particularly bad with several incidents occurring in the carpark at Stockland Plaza.
