Member for Morwell Russell Northe has been appointed Minister for Energy and Resources and Small Business in a cabinet reshuffle ahead of the November state election.
The appointment comes as a major promotion for Mr Northe, who in his second term has already served as the parliamentary secretary for small business.
Mr Northe’s energy portfolio ascension replaces the vacancy left by outgoing minister Nicholas Kotsiras – who has announced his retirement for November.
Announcing the reshuffle this afternoon, Premier Napthine said the decision came about after consultation with Deputy Premier Peter Ryan, to “reflect the depth of talent” across the Victorian Coalition Government.
Member for East Gippsland Tim Bull has also been promoted in the cabinet reshuffle, snagging the local government and aboriginal affairs portfolios.
