Advisory group established

FEDERATION University Australia has announced the formation of a leading industry advisory group into mining, resources, and mining services.

Professor and executive dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology John Yearwood said the prestigious advisory group would provide expert advice on new opportunities in these sectors and the development of tertiary programs and applied research.

“The group will include a cross section of major industry figures throughout the nation and internationally,” Professor Yearwood said.

“Australia’s mining and resources industry is moving from pure extraction to advanced services, requiring optimisation and business analytics. So the links between industry and universities have never been more important as we address the new challenges ahead of us.”

Energy and Resources Minister Russell Northe commended FedUni for establishing the advisory group and said stronger links with industry would be invaluable.

“FedUni plays a crucial role in the Victorian mining sector and this new advisory group will only enhance this role and help the university deliver the best possible outcomes for students and researchers,” Mr Northe said.
