MORWELL will be a place where hope shines when the Leukaemia’s Foundation runs its Community Light the Night event in the town next Thursday.
In shining a lantern of hope, the event, to be held at the Morwell East Football Club Oval next Thursday, 11 September from 5.30pm, is inviting the community to get behind raising money for blood cancer research.
Organiser Narelle Reilly said the event was about doing something to help local families, who have faced the challenges of blood cancer or other related blood disorders.
“This event is aimed at locals helping locals. The Morwell East Scout Group have joined me by hosting a barbecue for those who join us and shine hope in Morwell,” Ms Reilly said.
She said she wanted the community get behind the event and raise money for cancer.
“You don’t know who it’s going to touch; you, your loved one, or someone close to you. We need the support because I know first-hand what it’s like,” Ms Reilly said.
“If people can’t attend on the night, visit
www.lightthenight.org.au and select Morwell and donate there.”
