THE next generation of German descendants will help carry on the Oktoberfest tradition with the broader community at Club Astoria, Maryvale Crescent, Morwell on Saturday.
Jude Henne, Eamon Suares and Kate Henne (pictured) will be among those enjoying entertainment from Willie Mueller, the Dutch clog dancers ‘Melbourne Tukkers’ and Austrian Club dance group ‘Edelweiss’ provided throughout the day.
Also on offer will be German beers and a selection of delicacies including pork hocks, pretzels, kranskies, potato pancakes and continental cakes.
Club member Giselle Scorse said the event had a “community spirit about it”.
“Over the years it has grown to be a positive event the community embraces and loves attending,” Ms Scorse said.
“As the years go on there’s more people coming up in the traditional German costumes.
“They’re just doing it to support the festivity and the atmosphere of it.”
Oktoberfest will run from 10am to 5pm. Entry is by gold coin donation.
