The Latrobe Valley office of the Hazelwood Mine Fire Health Study will open its doors from 10am to 3pm on Tuesday, 27 January to give interested people the opportunity to drop in and chat with members of the project team.
The initial 10-year study, funded by the Victorian Department of Health, will be a multidisciplinary long-term study into the potential health effects from the Hazelwood coal mine fire.
It brings together researchers from Monash University’s School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and the School of Rural Health, along with the University of Tasmania, Federation University, the University of Adelaide and the CSIRO.
The study will begin with a post-exposure survey of those people living or working in Morwell at the time of the fire and reasearchers hope all adults in the town at the time will take part.
Details of the survey are due to be announced in the coming months.
