Melina Bath voted in for Eastern Victoria

South Gippsland secondary school teacher Melina Bath will be the new Nationals member for Eastern Victoria Region in the state’s upper house.

The mother of two was chosen through an internal Nationals vote on Saturday.

Ms Bath defeated three other preselected nominees for the seat: Bairnsdale pharmacist Tim Shelton, Traralgon community relations worker Kate Lancaster and Gippsland Water general manager Nicole Griffin.

A vacancy in the Eastern Victoria seat emerged after the resignation of Danny O’Brien, who was earlier this month elected to the lower house seat of Gippsland South.
