Community thanked

Traralgon police are thanking residents who assisted in locating an offender last week.

“Following an operation involving Traralgon police and the Latrobe Volume Crime Task Force, a male wanted by police was on the run in the Grey Street area,” Traralgon Senior Sergeant Jason Helps said.

“Local residents significantly assisted in locating the male by calling police with information and pointing out his location to police chasing on foot.”

Snr Sgt Helps said at least 30 residents assisted by pointing out locations to police the offender had travelled throughout the foot chase.

“That assistance ultimately led to the male being located and arrested after a violent confrontation with police,” Snr Sgt Helps said.

“This assistance from the community comes on the back of some other vital information which has assisted police to solve a number of crimes lately.

“Police want to thank the community for the assistance they regularly receive.”

The man has since been charged with extensive offending in the Traralgon area including theft of a motor car as well as burglaries and thefts.

If anyone has information regarding the crimes, phone local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
