IN celebration of the United Nations’ inaugural World Yoga Day, Moe’s Joy Yoga Studio will host its own fundraising event for yoga beginners and professionals.
This Sunday, the Purvis Plaza will open its doors from 9.30am to a dedicate an entire day to the art of yoga.
Event organiser Lucilla Hammond said she hoped to build a “sense of community”, with all funds raised to go towards the Gippsland Fighting Ice Campaign.
“The idea is to encourage a sense of community in Moe,” Ms Hammond said.
“It will be nice to give the money to someone in our own backyard, who are trying to help and support
their local community.”
Throughout the day a group of yoga teachers will hold several sessions at a cost of $5 for those who have already tried a bit of yoga.
The introductory session for beginners will be at no charge, with Ms Hammond hoping for a “very casual and easy-going” atmosphere.
“I want people to feel as though they can rock up, see what’s going on, meet a few people and try a bit of yoga,” she said.
