Shots fired during Rosedale greyhound inspection

Greyhound Racing Victoria inspectors were allegedly shot at during a routine property inspection at Rosedale on Tuesday.

According to GRV, a registered greyhound owner allegedly discharged a firearm in the vicinity of four of its staff members, before allegedly attempting to assault them while they were undertaking the routine inspection.

GRV chair Bernie Carolan said the incident was outrageous.

“If these allegations are proven to be correct then this is another example of the kind of behaviour that is not welcome in the Victorian greyhound racing industry, or anywhere for that matter.

“To think that someone could do this to staff there to help them is unfathomable.”

Sale police Acting Sergeant Glenn Thomson said the GRV staff members were assisting police with their investigation.

“The investigation is in its early infancy and will be investigated by Rosedale officers,” he said.
