Burning vehicle left on Traralgon nature strip

POLICE were called out to a burning Holden utility at a Traralgon address Monday morning.

Traralgon police and CFA crews responded to the alight vehicle left on the nature strip at Riverslea Boulevard about 5.45am.

CFA crews extinguished the blaze and are treating the incident as suspicious with investigations continuing.

Sergeant Jo Sinclair said it was a reminder for members of the public to double-check when using auto locking systems.

“Make sure your car is locked as you will be an easy target with thieves going from house to house, street after street,” Sgt Sinclair said.

Sgt Sinclair said police were responding to at least three to four thefts from motor vehicles per day in the Latrobe Valley with the majority of vehicles unlocked.

She said thieves were opportunistic, going into car ports to see if cars were unlocked and taking what they could including small change, mobile phones or navigation devices.
