A LIFELINE Gippsland plant sale has been marred by a theft from the Morwell site on the morning of the event.
Lifeline Gippsland chief executive Claire Davis said four people broke into the site about 2am last Friday and stole plants and garden ornaments.
“Security footage will be provided to the police but it was extremely upsetting for the volunteers who had spent many hours preparing for the sale,” Ms Davis said.
She said the sale was a success despite the theft and funds raised would support the 24-hour Telephone Crisis Support Service, 13 11 14, and assist with other vital suicide prevention programs.
“Lifeline Gippsland appreciates and thanks the local community for their ongoing support and generous donations,” Ms Davis said.
“Without this support, fund raising activities such as the plant sale would not be possible.”
Lifeline is now planning for next year’s sale and is accepting donations of excess plants, cuttings or bulbs for future fund raising activities.
