The Queen of scones

IN a Traralgon kitchen Joy Davis has been busy baking Christmas delights for an annual fundraising fair.

Known as the ‘Queen of Scones’ by the Traralgon Country Women’s Association branch, Joy is once again creating an assortment of scones, shortbread, fruit mince tarts and cakes for the Victorian CWA’s Christmas Fundraising Fair.

Joy’s passion for baking began when she, recently retired, was whipping up scones for the Melbourne Show.

She claimed her biggest secret to baking was to use “good ingredients”.

“I love to bake; my Christmas shortbread recipe is always a big hit because it’s simple and delicious,” Joy said.

“I love to share recipes and teach others about baking and the donation Coles has made to the CWA helps to get as many women as possible involved in… the Christmas fair.”

The fair will be held on 3 December at the CWA head office, 3 Lansell Road, Toorak.

The funds raised from the fair will support Victorian charities and community organisations.
