Closure attracts national media

Twenty-four hour news service Sky News is broadcasting live from the Latrobe Valley this week, discussing the impacts of the Hazelwood power station and mine’s impending closure.

Chief political reporter Kieran Gilbert has interviewed local politicians, power station workers and affected community members to “get the voices of the people heard” at a national level.

He said the news crew wanted to hear from the people first, before going to the politicians for answers.

Mr Gilbert said Hazelwood’s closure would have implications for the entire country, not just the Latrobe Valley.
