Youths suspected of lighting fire

Morwell police and Latrobe Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fire which occurred in bushland behind a residence in Crinigan Road, Morwell about 8pm on Sunday, 5 March.

Police have been told that three youths were seen loitering in the area prior to witnesses noticing smoke and flames.

Police and CFA have attended with firefighters extinguishing the fire which damaged an area about 10 metres wide.

Grass and small shrubs have been burnt with no other damage.

Police are investigating a burglary which occurred at a rural property in Flynn between Saturday, 25 and Monday, 27 February.

Police have been told it appeared the unknown offender/s gained access to a shed and stole a Toro ride on mower, an eight by five metre farm trailer, large tool chest, two swags and a small gun cabinet.

It is believed the offenders would have used a vehicle to transport the trailer and stolen items from the scene.

About 7.30pm on Thursday, 2 March Moe police intercepted a vehicle in Wirraway Street, Moe.

The vehicle was being driven by a 61 year-old man who is known to police in relation to drug involvement.

Police searched the man and vehicle and allegedly located an amount of cash, prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The man was arrested and remanded to appear at court.
