Hazelwood North collision

Two cars have collided and caught fire at Hazelwood Road in Hazelwood North this morning.

Police said the drivers of both cars, who were the only occupants of the vehicles, are believed to be in a non-serious condition and are being assessed by paramedics at the scene.

Just after midday, Morwell police Sergeant John Roberts said the intersection of Firmins Lane and Hazelwood Road would be closed for about an hour.

“It’s a timely warning for motorists to be aware of the wet conditions and to adjust their driving accordingly,” Sgt Roberts said.

The initial cause of the incident is unknown however Sgt Roberts indicated the recent wet weather may have been a factor in the collision.

The incident occurred about 11.30am.
