Active Crime Task Force arrests

Detectives from the Latrobe Crime Investigation Unit Active Crime Task Force have made a number of arrests over the past fortnight resulting in four alleged offenders being charged with numerous burglaries.

A 32 year-old Traralgon man has been charged with multiple burglaries in the Morwell area while a 43 year-old Moe man has been charged with burglary and robbery in relation to an incident earlier in the month.

A 30 year-old Traralgon man was charged with burglary on a laundrette with police recovering more than $13,000 in gold coins while another man has been charged with offences from incidents in Traralgon.

A 30 year-old Moe man has been charged with many offences including aggravated burglary, weapons offences, driving offences and various other incidents which were committed recently. He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

Detectives have charged two people with more than 20 counts of theft from motor vehicle which had been allegedly committed in the Morwell area over the past few weeks.

A 16 year-old Sale teenager and 19 year-old Morwell woman have been charged and will appear at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

Detectives said the alleged offenders targeted vehicles which had been left unlocked in residential driveways and streets. Police urge community members to lock their vehicles even when parked in the driveway of the home and remove all items from the vehicle when leaving it.

Latrobe Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an armed robbery which occurred at a BP service station in Traralgon at 9pm on Saturday.

Detectives have been told an unknown man entered the store allegedly armed with a long arm firearm, climbed onto the counter and threatened staff while demanding cash and cigarettes.

Staff emptied the cash register and handed over three packets of cigarettes, before the man left the scene. The alleged offender is described as being dressed in blue overalls, black gloves, balaclava and mask.

Moe police are investigating an arson incident at Hinkler Street, Moe at 1.40am on Monday.

Police said two witnesses heard two explosions and observed a vehicle alight in the street.

Three CFA units attended and extinguished the fire, however the vehicle was completely burnt out.
