Man surrenders after siege

An eight hour siege at Moe ended about 1am this morning after police were called to the Kent Street property following reports of a “family-related incident”.

Police attended the residence about 5pm on Sunday, 9 July where negotiations began after a man had allegedly “barricaded” himself inside the property.

The Traralgon man surrendered to police about 1am this morning after the Critical Incident Response Team was called in to assist with the operation.

A 35 year-old Morwell woman, who was in the house during the siege, was not injured.

The 28 year-old Traralgon man is expected to be charged and was expected to face Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court today. Police said the incident was unrelated to the Kent Street “stand-off”, as reported on page 4 of today’s Express.
