Luncheon success

The Moe and District Cancer Council fundraiser luncheon at Monash Hall in Yallourn North was packed full on Thursday last week.

One of the group’s many fundraising events from throughout the year, Moe and District Cancer Council president Linda Hall said this was the third time the group had held a luncheon.

Ms Hall said attendees paid a $10 entry fee at the door and there were a range of other fundraising activities available.

“There are books and knitwear and knick-knacks for sale,” she said.

“For lunch we have a choice of three soups as well as sandwiches and slices.”

Ms Hall said the Moe and District Cancer Council had also recently held a fundraiser with the Strzelecki Stringbusters where the group had raised about $2800.

“We do lots of fundraisers throughout the year,” she said.

“We have Daffodil Day, high teas, raffles and stalls … and we participate in Relay For Life.

“We have our regulars, the Churchill Garden Club often come along and there is a lady in Yallourn North who brings all of her contacts from Yallourn North and Moe.”
