He faced Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Friday and did not apply for bail.

He was remanded in custody and will face court at a later date.

Restaurant assault

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault on an employee at a Morwell fast-food venue on Sunday.

Detectives said a man jumped the counter at the KFC store on Princes Drive about 2.30pm yesterday before assaulting a staff member.

A customer intervened and pulled the offender off the staff member before a short scuffle took place and the man left the store, police said.

No one was injured during the incident.

The man was wearing a fluorescent vest and an orange hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Latrobe Crime Investigation Unit on 5131 5000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Blue light disco

More than 180 children attended the Latrobe Blue Light Disco on Friday night.

Held at Morwell Central Primary School, police said kids had a great time dancing and “expelling a bit of energy”.

Neighbourhood Watch members and volunteers from the Rotary of Club of Morwell leant a hand during the event.

A similar disco will be held in Traralgon later in the year.
