Latrobe Regional Hospital is calling on the support of its community as part of its annual tax giving appeal.
Moe Racing Club is one of the hospital’s largest donors, contributing $5000 this year to the appeal for the hospital to purchase two operating tables.
They will replace the existing operating tables which are almost a decade old.
The tables are valued at $55,000 each and are a vital piece of equipment which in the last two weeks were used in more than 100 operations.
Moe Racing Club chief executive Shane Berry encouraged other organisations to get behind the hospital’s appeal.
“It’s a worthwhile cause and it’s an institution that saves local lives,” Mr Berry said.
“We donated to the appeal last year and whatever the hospital needs, they put this money towards and that’s why local businesses and clubs need to get behind our hospital.
“If businesses don’t dig deep then we’re without great facilities and equipment like this in the local region and again they save local lives and this is why we do it.”
Last year the hospital raised more than $45,000, up on previous year’s tally of about $40,000.
The hospital performs more than 10,000 surgical procedures each year and has four operating theatres.
