Two women have been charged in relation to the theft of livestock from the Gippy Goat Cafe after police attended a property and saw animals wearing nappies inside a Koo Wee Rup house.
Senior Detective Constable Leigh Lambert of Warragul Police said police charged a 24-year-old Koo Wee Rup woman and a 43-year-old Boneo woman with theft.
Two lactating goats, a dairy doe being treated for lameness, as well as a black kid and an unweaned lamb from a children’s petting nursery were allegedly stolen from the Gippy Goat Café at Yarragon days before Christmas.
Constable Lambert said police attended the Koo wee Rup property where they were able to recover the lamb and the dairy goat. He said police were still on the lookout for the other missing animals.
Constable Lambert said there was also other unrelated livestock at the property and animals were seen inside the house in nappies.
The two women were bailed to appear at the Morwell Magistrates Court on February 18.
Constable Lambert said more arrests were expected in relation to the incident.
