Police car rammed in Morwell

Police have arrested a man following an alleged ramming in Morwell on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers attempted to intercept a vehicle on Waratah Drive about 1.30pm when it allegedly reversed into the police car.

The driver fled on foot before being arrested by police. No officers were injured during the incident.

The 23-year-old Morwell man is in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

The investigation is ongoing.

Men charged following Traralgon assault

Two men have been charged following an assault at Saloon Bar on Kay Street, Traralgon in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 20-year-old Traralgon man was taken to Latrobe Regional Hospital in a stable condition with head injuries following the incident.

Police said two men, aged 19 and 20, from Sale were charged with recklessly causing injury and unlawful assault.

The men were known to each other, police said.

The pair were released on custody and will appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on March 13.

Witnesses sought

Police are seeking witnesses to an early morning bin fire in Vary Street, Morwell.

Police discovered a fire in the bin outside a milkbar at 3.50am on Tuesday, January 22.

CFA attended and extinguished the fire which caused damage to the plastic bin and its metal surrounds.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the Vary Street area around that time or anyone with information about the fire to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
