A MAJOR blaze tore through the Cowwarr Primary School on Wednesday night.
The main building appears to have been destroyed as 80 firefighters from 20 crews attended the scene to bring the flames under control.
The school burnt down just hours after students enjoyed the first day of the 2020 year.
In a major blow for the small, tight-knit community, the school’s staff and 22 students, the school is expected to be demolished.
Parents and students were still in shock on Thursday at losing the much-loved community facility, and are now unable to resume their school year at the premises.
The cause of the fire will be investigated with police and local fire brigade on the scene on Thursday morning.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
