ENGIE is hoping to forge ahead with demolishing boiler house 2 in the former Hazelwood Power Station this afternoon between 1pm and 4pm pending weather conditions.
The demolition was supposed to take place last week but was delayed due to unfavourable weather, after being rescheduled from June.
The demolition is expected to take about 10 seconds and locals are likely to hear a loud noise when it takes place.
ENGIE is establishing a 700 metre exclusion zone around the boiler house and there will be road closures on Brodribb Road and Yinnar Road.
Traffic on the Princes Freeway will be slowed to 60 kilometres an hour. Traffic on the Strzelecki Highway will be slowed to 80 kilometres per hour.
ENGIE is carrying out extensive monitoring throughout the mine licence and in close proximity to neighbouring townships.
