LATROBE City recorded eight new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours up to midnight.
COVID-19 commander Jeroen Weimar shared more on the new cases at this morning’s press briefing.
“Four are known household primary close contacts of no huge exposure risk, two are from another household that’s been part of our ongoing investigations and we’re nailing down their acquisition source and two cases that came in late last night are under investigation this morning,” Mr Weimar said.
“A big shout out to the team at Gippsland Region Public Health Unit and the wider Latrobe Valley for their work over the last week or so on that Latrobe cluster and bringing it under control.”
Five of the new cases are in the 3840 postcode (Morwell district), two in the 3842 postcode (Churchill district) and one in the 3844 postcode (Traralgon district).
That lifts the tally of active cases in the municipality to 73.

GRPHU said anyone who has visited a Tier 1 exposure site during the times listed must immediately isolate, get a COVID-19 test and quarantine for 14 days from the date of exposure regardless of the result.
If you think you have had close contact with a person with COVID-19 or may otherwise be a close contact, get in touch with the GRPHU on 5173 5451 or call the Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 675 398.
If you have a primary close contact living in your household (someone who attended a
Tier 1 site within the specified times), you must stay in quarantine until that person is told they can leave quarantine. So, all within your household must quarantine. The close contact should isolate themselves where possible. Other people within that household should get tested if symptoms appear.
