The human remains found near Dargo in November 2021 have today been confirmed by Victoria Police to be that of Carol Clay and Russell Hill.
Victoria Police have released a statement confirming that forensic testing on the human remains found late last year has concluded.
They confirmed that the remains do belong to the missing campers.
As the matter is before the court, Victoria Police have said they will not be providing any further comment.
The pair went missing in March 2020, after embarking on a camping trip together in the Wonnangatta Valley.
Their campsite was found burned out on March 21 2020 by other campers.
Last year, a 55-year-old Caroline Springs man was arrested and charged with murder.
He is set to return to court for a committal mention on May 31 2022.
