Due to forecast hot temperatures across Victoria on Wednesday, February 10, the following changes will be in place on parts of the V/Line network:

  • extreme heat timetables fot the Ararat, Bairnsdale, Ballarat and Maryborough and Traralgon lines.
  • partial extreme heat timetables for the Bendigo, Echuca, Seymour, Shepparton and Swan Hill lines.

Speed restrictions may also be implemented on other lines if temperatures exceed 36 degrees, which may result in delays or service changes.

We ask passengers to check the V/Line website prior to travelling to see if their services are affected, and to allow extra time when travelling.

A copy of the extreme heat timetable can be downloaded from the V/Line website or passengers can ask for a copy from their nearest staffed station.

Extreme heat speed restrictions are implemented in order to reduce the likelihood of train and track faults, while also keeping passengers safe.

When an Extreme Heat Timetable is in place, journey times will be extended as we reduce the speed of our trains.

There will be drinking water on board trains and passengers are also encouraged to travel with bottled water and wear cool clothing.
