Redsox secure decisive victory

THE Moe/Newborough and Traralgon game got off to a good start, with the Dodgers scoring in each of the first two innings while good pitching and defence kept the Traralgon bats scoreless in A grade.

The Redsox proceeded to score five runs in the third inning, but it was all downhill for the Dodgers.

Traralgon edged away in the next few innings to open up a significant lead of 10-3.

The Redsox then added four more runs in the ninth inning to run out comfortable winners, 14-3.

The Dodgers left a multitude of runners on base throughout the day, and this strongly influenced the poor score line.

Morwell v Sale

The Morwell and Sale game was also played in wet conditions with the A grade being the only senior game played.

Sale comfortably took the game out 17-6.

B grade

In a closely fought contest, neither team was able to break the game apart as both pitchers had solid defences behind them.

Traralgon and Moe were able to drive a run each in the first innings, until Matt Luke found his rhythm on the mound and was backed up by some hits to give him a 5-3 lead which the Dodgers held onto to win.

The Morwell and Sale game was washed out.

C grade

The cold and wet weather was not the only dampener of the day.

Traralgon scored freely right from the start 5 – 7 – 4 – 1 – 0.

Dodgers were slow to respond scoring 4 – 0 – 1 – 2 – 1.

Great batting from Eric Robinson (double and single) and singles from Georgia Crockford, Greg Porter, Phil Cervi and a late home run from Darren Crockford were not enough to rein in Traralgon losing 17-8.

The Morwell and Sale game was also a washout.

The under 13s got a game in at Morwell with Sale coming out victors with a 10-0.

This week will see Churchill travel to Sale for another replay of last years grand final while Traralgon will take on Morwell.
