TRARALGON captain Brad Knowles showed his all round class at Melbourne Country Week, averaging over 50 with the bat and 21 with the ball as the Tornados finished the carnival with two wins and two losses in division two.
The skipper notched two fifties with a high score of 76 and was the tournament’s fourth most prolific batsman with a tally of 216 runs.
Ex Students trundler Robert Voss headed the bowlers list with nine wickets at 13.22, including a five wicket haul against Benalla.
Traralgon stumbled out of the blocks with losses to eventual runner up Warrnambool and Benalla, but bounced back to thump Yarra Valley by 127 runs and Ferntree Gully by three wickets.
Torando’s experienced brigade rounded out the week in style against Ferntree Gully, as Jason Macfarlane (39) and Robert Webber (55) posted a 102 partnership chasing 207, with Dan Nicholls (29), Knowles (28) and Michael Higgins (28*) finishing the job.
Adam Brady took eight wickets in his two appearances in the competition, including 7/25 in the opening match against Warrnambool.
Bairnsdale was the overall carnival winner.
