A POWERFUL third quarter effort handed Latrobe City Energy men’s Big V division one basketball team a sold victory over Warrnambool Seahawks on Saturday.
Leading by six points at the main change, Energy scored 24 points to eight in the third to take the game away from the Seahawks.
However, Warrnambool fought back in a high scoring final quarter to outscore the Energy by four points, but Latrobe City’s damage in the third was enough to secure a 97-79 victory.
Energy’s Jordan Canovan and Russell Permenter stole the show with 28 points each.
Latrobe City Energy’s division one women team also recorded a comprehensive victory against bottom-placed Altona Gators on Sunday.
Danni Pearce (16 points) and Carly Mullen-Bianconi (15 points) top scored for the Energy in their 30-point victory.
